Chapter Two

Sidney, Nebraska

The six teenagers on the run from the FBI are feeling the strain of their hectic lives. Max feels guilty for putting his friends and family in this position, but he thinks he might have a plan. Michael pulls the van into the small Nebraskan town of Sidney and the teens all smile at the cafe they choose to eat at; it’s reminiscent of the Crashdown Cafe. While the teens order food, Michael buys a newspaper.

After reading the newspaper a couple times, Michael tells his friends that there is no mention of them at all. The teens aren’t sure whether this is a good thing or not. They all know the press had footage of them using alien powers to escape from the Special Unit just yesterday. Because the FBI is looking for them, Isabel has changed Maria’s hair to a copper tone red and Liz’s hair to blonde.

More importantly, however, Max wants to try and prevent Liz’s premonition of Isabel’s death. He suggests that Isabel, Kyle, and Maria split from the group and head to Boston to meet up with Jesse. Maria immediately rejects that idea, assuming Max thinks she is a liability; she, after all, is the only human left without powers.

After some discussion, it is agreed that Isabel and Kyle will go to Boston while the rest of the teens try to find Kal Langley.

While Michael goes to talk to Maria and try to calm her down, Liz agrees to try and receive another premonition about Isabel. Touching her alien friend, Liz is immediately overwhelmed by the vision of Isabel being brutally dissected alive.

The teens worry whether or not sending Isabel to Boston will stop her from this fate or instead inadvertently lead her to it. With no options left, Isabel decides to go to her husband.
