Chapter Six
Boston
Jesse hails a cab and no sooner than telling the driver his destination, Jesse sees a black sedan following him. Telling the cab driver that his wife is in labor, the driver begins to drive a little more recklessly. Thinking he has lost the black sedan, Jesse begins to walk towards his meeting place but is forced to duck into a parking garage as he sees an agent up ahead. Hiding behind a large SUV, Jesse throws a broken concrete brick as far as he can, and while the agent investigates the noise, Jesse slips away.
Nervous, but trying not to show it, Jesse enters the restaurant, Antonio’s Cucina Italiana, and tells the host he is waiting for someone. Taken aback by the host asking if he is Jesse Ramierz, Jesse quickly recovers and takes the risk of saying yes.
He is ushered to a table where a pudgy woman with red hair is waiting. Once the two are left alone, the woman introduces herself as Shelby Tremaine and tells Jesse about what has been happening in Roswell.
Roswell, New Mexico
Brody Davis, after spending all morning wondering what is going on and trying not to go crazy, is surprised to receive a phone call from a familiar sounding man. The man introduces himself as Jesse Ramierz and Brody immediately remembers him as Isabel’s husband.
Jesse asks Brody if he would be willing to prove to the public that aliens exist. Quite excited and intrigued, Brody says he would love to get that chance. Jesse tells Brody that he needs to retrieve the video tape Mr. Evans had managed to keep hidden from the FBI and to contact any media sources he knows.
When Brody presses Jesse about what this is all about, Jesse gives him a cryptic answer. Brody, however, comes to the conclusion that Max and his friends must have discovered real proof of alien life and that the government is trying to cover it up.
A little nervous about the government’s drastic actions, Brody agrees to try and help Jesse take his information public.
Tucson, Arizona
Agent Duff, Valenti, Amy, and Laurie sit together outside of Laurie’s gigantic house, drinking iced tea and talking in circles about what to do. After it seems that there is no course of action, Duff suddenly has an idea. While she and Laurie go inside to use the internet, Valenti and Amy share sad smiles and reminisce about happier times.
Their quiet moment is interrupted by Valenti’s pager going off. Relieved to see a Boston area code, Valenti quickly dials Jesse back. Jesse tells Valenti about Phillip’s plan to go public, and Valenti agrees to keep in contact and share notes.
Duff returns with the exciting information that she might know where the Special Unit is keeping the Evans and the Parkers.
