Chapter Five

Bowie, Arizona

Deputy Jim Valenti is driving an old station wagon towards Laurie Dupree’s house. Amy DeLuca lays in the back seat, sleeping. While he drives, Valenti thinks over the events of the previous days. After Agent Suzanne Duff warned him about the Special Unit coming to Roswell, Valenti had warned the Evans and the Parkers as best he could before taking off with Amy. Just barely escaping the Unit, Amy and Jim had hidden out at the Mesaliko Indian Reservation. River Dog and Eddie, along with a couple other Indians, helped patch up Amy, who had received a terrible hit to the head.

At the Reservation, Valenti had called Brody and warned him to lock himself up in his bomb-shelter UFO museum. A little confused and a bit scared, Brody agrees to do as Valenti says until they have further contact.

Now, Valenti and Amy are on their way to Laurie Dupree’s house to meet up with Agent Duff and discuss what to do next.

Elk, New Mexico

Special Agent Patrick Harrison, the man in charge of capturing the Evans is frustrated that Jim and Amy had escaped from Roswell. He is also very concerned about the video feed that Mr. Evans had transmitted to an unknown source right before his capture.

Agent Cutler enters the room and informs Harrison that the Evans and the Parkers have refused to give him any information. He says he plans on letting the Evans and the Parkers see one another in an attempt to make them talk, but his “barracuda smile” foreshadows a darker intent.

When Nancy Parker is ushered into a room, she is relieved to see her husband, Jeff, alive. But her relief turns to horror as the Special Agents begin torturing her husband and refuse to stop until she answers their questions. Left with little choice, Nancy and Jeff tell the agents what they know about the aliens, including the fact that there are two sets of the Royal Four.
