Chapter Fourteen
Max, who had pushed aside his role as king for the last couple months, now finds himself taking charge. And, to his surprise, it feels right.
Once he has everyone’s attention, Max puts his plan on the table. He wants to split the group and send the A team to directly confront the Special Unit and save his and Liz’s parents. The second group, the B team, will remain at Langley’s home and be ready to go public, if the need arises.
Max wants Langley, Liz, Valenti, Duff, Michael, and himself to lead the attack on the Unit. Isabel, Jesse, Maria, Kyle, and Shelby are to stay behind. Maria and Isabel immediately reject being forced to stay behind. But after Liz reminds Isabel that her premonition could still come true, Isabel agrees to stay. Seeing that Isabel is also staying, Maria gives in as well.
Max hopes his crazy full-on attack of the Special Unit does not backfire; but he, and the group, know they have Langley’s plan to fall back on.
